Home. I am home.

My home gives me a sense of comfort and safety. It wraps itself around with my favourite things. It speaks of who I am. Decorated with what speaks to me. The colours, the textures, the feelings. While those have been influenced by others who have shared my home, it is still surrounded by the essence of me.

I gaze out the window into nature that fills me. It brings me a sense of peace. I listen to the birds and watch as they play in our garden. It brings me a sense of joy. I look out for the kangaroos, who sometimes hop by and stop to munch on the native grasses. It brings me a sense of oneness with the world.

My home is my haven. However, I have come to realise that wherever life takes me, I am home. Home is not a physical place, and it is not the house I live in. It is not the body I live in. It is the peace that fills me when I stop and touch the soul within.

The presence of the Spirit that transforms my day. The presence of the Spirit that gives me words to write and speak. The presence of the Spirit that waits for me. It leaves the light on so I can find it at any time. When darkness falls over me, I can find my way back home. I don’t need to stumble. I don’t need to fall. It is always there to guide my way and to lift me up. I just need to turn and face the light and I will be guided home.
